NEW BRANDON CANCER RESIDENCE TO BE NAMED “MURRAY HOUSE”

BRANDONMB - Thanks to a major leadership donation of $625,000, the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation “A Sense of Home” campaign is pleased to announce that the cancer residence to be built at521 Frederick Streetwill be named “Murray House”.

The donation is from the Murray Auto Group headlined by the Murray Auto Centre inBrandon, consisting of Murray Chevrolet and Murray Chrysler Westman as well as Clair and Millie Murray and Doug and Laurie Murray.  Doug is the General Manager of the Murray Automotive Centre and CEO of the Murray Auto Group.  TheMurrayfamily has been involved in the auto industry for 85 years, beginning inSouris,Manitobabefore expanding toBrandonin 1960. The Murray Auto Group is not only one ofCanada’s leading automotive groups, but theMurrayfamily have long been pillars of the Westman community.

Doug Murray, CEO of Murray Auto Group states:

“The Murray Family has had a long tradition of giving to worthy causes in our community, and supporting the “A Sense of Home” building campaign allows us to become more public with our charitable work.  The Sense of Home Residence, now known as “Murray House”, is a perfect project for us to support.  Even though the residence is located inBrandon, it will be supporting cancer patients and their families from ruralManitobaas they travel in for care.  As more than half of our customer base is in ruralManitoba, we felt that this project supported both our own community and our customers.  Cancer touches most of us, and most of us have someone close to us that have been affected by cancer.  We hope that “Murray House” makes this experience with cancer a little less traumatic.”

Brian Schoonbaert, CEO of the Brandon Regional Health Authority states:

“The amazing generosity shown by Doug and Laurie Murray and family demonstrates their families’ commitment to this community and allows the BrandonRHAto provide much more in terms of care and comfort for patients during their cancer journey.”

TheMurraydonation not only gives a huge financial boost to the BRHC Foundation’s “A Sense of Home” Residence Building Campaign, but provides the name to a residence that will offer a home away from home for the many patients who travel toBrandonfrom surrounding communities for cancer treatment.  Design plans are presently being created, with building expected to begin at521 Frederick Streetas early as August 2012.

Murray's is very proud of it's long history of service to clients throughout rural Manitoba.  This month, to thank our rural clients, Murray Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC and Murray Chrysler Westman will be supporting the Brandon Regional Health Foundation's "A Sense of Home" cancer treatment residence.

For too long, cancer patients in Western Manitoba have endured endless travel back and forth to Winnipeg for treatment causing emotional, physical and financial stress.  Today, thanks to our new Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, many treatments will occur here in Brandon.

The cancer treatment residence will be a 7,000 square foot, 8-bedroom residence for patients and their families who are in Brandon receiving treatment at the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre.  The residence will feature a common lounge, kitchen and dining areas while each bedroom will have ensuite washroom facilities.  There will also be an outdoor patio area in this safe and secure environment.

The three guiding principles of the residence are patient safety, cost effieciency and a healing patient experience.

We at Murray's want to thank you, our customers who have been loyal to us through out or company's 85 year history.  We have always appreciated your business and hope that you will join with us in supporting the new cancer treatment residence.

Please make room in your heart to help those in our region when they us most.
